The Power-QWK Conference Menu
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Select the required conference using the cursor keys plus PgUp
and PgDn. Then:
Enter - Enter the highlighted conference and skip to the
oldest unread message. If the highlighted conference
has no unread messages then move on to the next
conference with unread messages. Exit from an entered
conference, back to the Conference Menu, is automatic
when all messages in the conference have been read.
This form of conference entry is intended to provide
an easy method of reading new mail. Press Enter to enter
the conference then keep pressing Enter to see all new
mail until there is none left, then press Enter some
more to move on to the next conference with unread mail.
Tab - Force entry to the highlighted conference. Same as
Enter except that,
a) if the highlighted conference has no unread messages,
then the conference is entered anyway and exit from
it is only possible using the Esc key (if a conference
has unread mail when it is entered then exit is
automatic when all such mail has been read).
b) if you have a Personal Mail conference and have set
ON the marking of Personal messages as 'read' in the
general conferences, then such marking is switched
OFF temporarily if you enter the conference with Tab.
This form of conference entry is intended to provide a
'general browse' mode. Enter the conference with Tab,
move about the conference, reading messages, following
threads, breaking into the Bulletins area whenever
required, and then press Esc when you've finished, to
return to the Conference Menu.
B - Enter the Bulletins area of the highlighted conference, in
'general browse' mode.
D - Set 'Prune Days' for the highlighted conference.
F - Set or unset the Fido switch of the highlighted conference.
If a conference is marked as a Fido conference, all messages
sent in or to that conference will be given Fido network
compatible taglines.
If you inadvertantly write messages to a conference with
this switch at the incorrect setting, change to the correct
setting and then press H to call up the History review
screen. At the History screen, use the D key to display each
message in turn. Then, while each message is on display,
press Alt/T (change Tagline). The action of changing the
tagline will cause the new tagline to be written in the
correct format.
G - Gateway to DOS.
H - 'History' - you will be shown a list of all replies made in
the current session plus any retained from an already
existent .REP file at the start of the session. You may then
edit them or delete them as you wish. You may also change the
addressee name, destination conference, Privacy, or Subject
of any reply.
P - Prune either the highlighted conference or all conferences.
R - Mark all messages in the highlighted conference as read.
S - 'Say' a message to the highlighted conference without
actually entering the conference.
T - Invoke the Power-QWK Tagline Manager.
This allows insertion, deletion and amendment of lines in
any number of tagline files. On enty to Power-QWK, the
default tagline file is POWERQWK.TAG but the Tagline
Manager supports any number of tagline files.
Inserted lines may be plain text or contain ANSI-ART colour
and/or music sequences.
A tagline of the form %path_name_to_a_file will cause the
entire contents of the named file to be used as a 'tagline'.
U - Mark all messages in the highlighted conference as unread.
M - Set the Prune Archive Map entry for the highlighted entry.
X - Delete the file POWERQWK.MAP (the Prune Archive Map) from
the current Message Base.
/ or ? - same as Return.
Ctrl/CursorDn or Ctrl/d - same as Return.
F2 - call up the Conference Pick List from which to choose a
new Conference to be entered.
When in a Messages area, the Conference Pick List displays
an asterisk against the names of conferences which have
unread mail.
In a Bulletins area, it places an asterisk aginst the names
of conferences which have unread bulletins.
F3 - Set the sort order for the conference list. This determines
the order of names in the conference menu and the order in
which conferences are scanned in Bulletins 'general browse'
mode.
The order may be either Alphanumeric sequence of Conference
Name or Numeric sequence of Conference Number.
If you choose Numeric order then conference numbers are
displayed beside the names in the Conference Menu.
